Alice Poursine Sutherland

Alice Poursine Sutherland, born on March 31, 1948, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2013 at the age of 65. Beloved wife of 43 years to Gary Joseph Sutherland. Most beloved, dedicated and forever cherished great aunt of Nicholas Molay and Landon Montz. Devoted sister of Diane P. Bilbe (Charlie), Janet P. Weber (John) and Marcel H. Poursine, Jr. (Sharon). Loving aunt of M. Charles Bilbe (Sharon), David M. Bilbe (Charlene), Mitchell P. Bilbe (Denise), John E. Weber, III (Michelle), Jeffrey S. Weber (Laurie), Joby M. Weber (Jeanie), Julie W. Haag (Danny), Jennifer W. Gibson (Scott), Lisa M. Molay, Joseph R. Montz, Jeremy S. Poursine, Norbert W. Sutherland, III and Sherrill S. Ho (Chris). Also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Norbert and Donna Sutherland. Alice was the cherished “Nee Nee” to 25 additional great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Predeceased by her beloved mother and father, Elizabeth Christoffersen Poursine and Marcel Henry Poursine, Sr., her sister, Denise P. Boudreaux, and her niece, Michelle M. Montz.

Alice was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Kenner, Louisiana. She was an incredibly generous person and was a wonderful wife, sister, and special aunt. She was intelligent and creative and loved listening to music, dancing and travelling around the world, especially to Paris. Those who knew and loved her will forever miss her laughter, love of life and devotion and dedication to her family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful doctors and nurses at East Jefferson and Ochsner Hospitals who provided Alice with superior care during her illness, and in particular, Dr. Clement Eiswirth, who was always there for Alice and whom she deeply respected.

A private service of prayer and remembrance was held on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made in Alice’s name to the American Heart Association.
