Althea Finnin St. Angelo

Althea Finnin St. Angelo, age 76, died on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at 9:18 pm at East Jefferson General Hospital. Althea was the beloved wife and best friend of 54 years of A. J. St. Angelo. She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. Finnin and Annette Standige Finnin, her brother, William J. Finnin, her sister, Annette Finnin Gallo, her infant son, William St. Angelo, and her sister-in-law, Rose Mary St. Angelo Breaux. Althea is survived by daughters, Laura S. Rainey (Steve), Terri S. Bailey (Auggi), son, Mikal J. St. Angelo (Jay), and grandchildren, Sharon Ann Rainey, Bryan J. Rainey, Camille Frances Bailey, Austen H. Bailey, and brothers-in-law, Bob Gallo and Ray Breaux. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Althea, born in New Orleans, was a resident of Metairie since 1959. She was a proud former resident of the Irish Channel and attended elementary and high school at Redemptorist, class of 1954. She was extremely active in school programs, such as pep squad, yearbook staff, and was elected senior class secretary. Upon graduation, she worked as a legal secretary for Deutsch, Kerrigan and Stiles. Later, she attended Southeastern Louisiana University (where she met A. J.) and after rearing her children, she attended the University of New Orleans. Althea loved her rose garden, camping in the Smokies, vacationing in Gulf Shores, and traveling throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe and Russia. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Philip Neri, 6500 Kawanee Ave. Metairie on Friday January 4, 2012 at 12:00 pm. Visitation from 10:00 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers donation to woundedwarriorproject.org are preferred.
