Andrew Mire Jr.

On Tuesday, August 7, 2012, Andrew “JuJu” Mire, Jr. passed away after a prolonged struggle against cancer. He was 72. Son of the late Andrew Mire, Sr. and Lucille d’Aquin Mire. Beloved husband and best friend of 50 years to Carolyn Martina Mire. Devoted father of Andy Mire III, Laurie Joyner (Jay) and Rhonda King. Loving grandfather of Drew and Erica Mire, Shelby and Trey King and Jay, Alexander and Christopher Joyner. Also survived by five brothers: Denis (Beverly), Michael (Maria), James (Donna), John (Rose) and Peter Mire as well as four sisters: Sister Miriam “Ann”, Evelyn (Tommy), Janet and Marilyn (Ronnie); a sister-in-law, Claudette (Xavier) and a brother-in-law, Anthony.

Andrew served in the US Navy, retired from Equitable Shipyard in 1982 then from The Jefferson Parish Water Department in 2004. Andrew also owned and operated Andy’s Electric Co. for over 30 years.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Divine Providence Church, corner of N. Starrett Rd. and W. Metairie Ave. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, August 12, 2012 from 7 – 10 pm at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie and on Monday morning at the church from 9 – 11 am. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
