A lifelong resident of New Orleans and a graduate of Ursuline Academy, she was the wife of the late Lawrence A Merrigan, a noted New Orleans philanthropist and president of the Bank of New Orleans. She is the mother of Anne Merrigan Saporito and Scott Farrell Merrigan and the late Lawrence J Merrigan. She was a successful real estate agent for over 35 years and an active member of St Ann’s Church in Metairie, La.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Hardy Farrell and Charles Constantine Farrell, her siblings, Charles Farrell, John Farrell, Marie Farrell Eagan and Dorothy (Dotsie) Louise Farrell. She is survived by her sister, Catherine Farrell Combest.
She leaves behind a large loving family including her daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Craig Saporito, her son and daughter in law, Scott and Anita Merrigan, her daughter-in-law, Martha Merrigan, her grandchildren, Kerry Merrigan Latiolais, Charles Merrigan, Konnie Merrigan Duncan and Erin Saporito Mosely and her great-grandchildren, Katherine and Michael Latiolais, Andrew and Margaret Ann Duncan, Jack and Charlie Mosely.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 11:00 am. Visitation at Leitz-Eagan on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Friday from 9:00 am until time of service. Interment in All Saints Mausoleum.
