Heaven gained a beautiful soul on February 28, 2026, when Antoinette Barone Young, 76, was called home. She was born on February 7, 1950 in the city of New Orleans to the late Juliana and Alcolla Barone. In her younger years Antoinette spent much of her time living in New Orleans, a city that has always held a special place in her heart. She embraced everything the city had to offer, from its music to its incredible food. She loved gathering with friends and family, and soaking in the spirit and warmth that made New Orleans feel like home.
Later in life, she moved to Lafitte with her late beloved husband, Dale Young, where they raised their family along the bayou. There, surrounded by the beauty of the water and the closeness of community, she built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
For many years Antoinette worked as a waitress at Deanie’s Seafood before continuing her career at Jaeger’s Seafood. She loved her job and the friendships she built with her coworkers and customers alike. Known for her kindness and warm smile, she made it a tradition to give each customer a piece of candy after their lunch, a simple act that perfectly reflected her caring heart.
Above all, she was the heart of the family, the best wife, mother, Grammy, Maw Maw, aunt, and friend anyone could ask for. Her love for her family was constant and unwavering, and she made sure everyone felt it. She could always be found on Sundays cheering on the Saints with passion and loyalty. A devoted catholic, her faith was the foundation of her life, and she prayed faithfully for each and every one of her friends and family.
Antoinette was the queen of seafood, known for her cooking traditional New Orleans dishes that filled her home with comfort and joy. She cherished the annual Boat Blessing, a day filled with her favorite people and great music that filled the dance floor. She loved to shop, in fact it was one of her favorite things to do.
