I am a Rummel '78 grad and remember Mr.Gomez as a very fair kind man. He was one of the teachers you remembered with a smile. I am also good friends with his son Rick, to him and his family I send my most sincere condolances. I personaly know the sadness loosing a father brings and can say with all faith that Mr. Gomez is waiting for you in heaven. God bless you all

He will be missed by me and the entire Arch. Rummel family.  I was his student during the 1992-93 school year.

They do not make teachers like Tilo anymore. He was my dear friend and mentor. As I was a young teacher just starting my career, I wanted to have the same impact on my students that Tilo had on his. His influence on me can not be measured. I am truly thankful for the time I spent with him. I will miss him and was proud to have been able to teach with him.

I was just thinking of Mr. Gomez this morning.  Sadly, I've just heard the news.  My condolences to the Gomez family.  He was one of my favorite teachers of all time, not just at Rummel.  He cared about us and what we were learning.  I still have my "almost" perfect paper on a quiz from his class:  25 out of 25 (minus)...I forgot to put one negative sign in the correct place.  That's the kind of teacher he was though.  He wanted us to do our very best because he knew we could do our very best.  He'll be in my memory for as long as I live.

I was fortunate to teach across the hall from Tilo from 1987-1992. Tilo was an excellent teacher and he wanted his students to be successful. 

I remember seeing him working with two students during his planning period. It was unusual because the boys had graduated two years earlier. When I asked him what was going on. He told me one of the boys had called asking for his help with their calculus exam. He told them when he was available. So on the morning of their exam they drove in from LSU to get help they knew they could count on.

My son Justin was fortunate to have Mr. Gomez both his junior and senior years. Justin went to LSU and tested out of four classes of math.

Justin is now a computer engineer working for Raytheon out of Boston.

One of the things I missed  in leaving Rummel was not getting to talk to Tilo.

Tilo was a dedicated teacher; I am proud to have taught with him at Rummel during his tenure there. I offer my deepest sympathy to his family and I will keep all of you in my prayers as you grieve his passing. Know that he will always be with you.

Tilo was one of the finest men and most dedicated teachers I have ever had the pleasure to know.

I am so sorry to hear of Tilo's passing,  No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. My deepest condolences are with you and your entire family.  He will be in your hearts forever!

My sincere condolences go out to the entire Gomez family.  Although Mr. Gomez may not still be with us, just know that the dedication he showed to each and every one of his students will carry his memory on.  He was a man who inspired his students to put forth the effort, attention, and passion that not only served well in his classroom, but made them a better person outside of it.  He will be missed, but not forgotten.

My condolences to the Gomez family. Mr. Gomez was a wonderful and caring teacher. He tought myself and my two brothers Calculus. When I think back at my time at Rummel, Mr. Gomez would always come to mind. He had an incalculable impact on my life and the entire Rummel family. May he rest in peace.

I had the privilege of studying under Mr. Gomez for two years.  Besides being an outstanding Spanish instructor, he made it a point to teach us more than just a foreign language.  My experiences at Rummel are richer because of him.  Please accept my condolences.

Carmen and Rob and the entire Gomez family I want to pass on our condolences for your loss. I never had the pleasure of meeting your Dad Carmen but after the stories Rob has shared with me he was truly a great man, father and grandfather. We will keep you guys in our prayers.

I loved working with Tilo in the Math Department at Rummel. His knowledge and love of mathematics was an inspiration to us all. May God bless him and his family.

What a phenomenal man!  The legends are disappearing.  I was a colleague of Tilo's at Rummel for many years.  Men like this are what made Rummel a great place.

Mr. Gomez was one of the best teachers that I ever had at Rummel.  I so appreciate having learned such a great deal in his class.  May he rest in peace and may his family recieve God's great consolation.

During my time at Rummel, Señor Gomez was a helpful, funny, tough, and solidly positive influence in my life. I expect many other students had a similar experience with Señor Gomez over the many years of his teaching career.  He is one of the primary reasons why I remember my high school years in such a good light. I can only hope that in the coming years my children are blessed to have a teacher in their lives as caring, grounded, and sincere as Señor Gomez.

Yoli and Ricky,I am very sorry to learn that Tilin passed away. My three sons were students of his at Rummel and respected him dearly. Our entire family extend our condolenses and you are all in our prayers. May he rest in peace.

To Yoli and her family, I am so sorry for the loss of Tilin. He was always kind and helpful. Tilin had the patience of a saint teaching me to drive. I'll always remember his kindness and patience.  He will be missed.

Mr. Gomez was my Spanish teacher for two years. I believe he had just started teaching at Rummel when I was his student. He was a wonderful teacher and a kind, patient man. He allowed me to get away with murder in his class, maybe because I was always a very serious student. I've always wanted to apologize for being such a pill. Sorry, Mr. Gomez! For a time I majored in Spanish at UNO, worked in Spain while I was in college, and went on to read countless articles and books in Spanish thanks to the solid foundation Mr. Gomez gave me. I was so proud when one Sunday in the 1970s I ran into him after Mass and we had a conversation entirely in Spanish. I hope he took some pride in that too. ¡Que descanse en paz, muy querido maestro!

My deepest condolences to the family.  I had the unique privilege of encountering Tilo as a student, a colleague, and a parent.  While usually not appreciated when a student yourself, his drive was inspirational as a fellow teacher, and he demanded the absolute best of my three sons when he taught them.  Tilo, you'll be missed by all those whose hearts (and brains) you touched.

Mr. Gomez was by far my favorite teacher at Rummel.  Passionate, funny, intelligent, and caring.  It has been 25 years since I left but I still have the fondest memories of my 3 years in his Spanish classes.  He was truly a rare gem.

Mr. Gomez was a passionate teacher and always pushed his students to do their best, and maybe even a little more.  He was always a gentleman and was well respected because of the respect he showed to all those around him.  May my children have teachers as wonderful and focused as Mr. Gomez. Please accept my condolences. I will remember the Gomez family in my prayers during their time of loss. Mr. Gomez was one of the finest teachers a boy could ask for. Though it's been 24 years, I will always remember Mr. Gomez for his wit, his patience, and his commitment to his students. He would persevere until the lesson he was teaching was understood. I was in one of Mr Gomez' first classes in the late 60's. He was a great man and a great educator. He touched the lives and many and had an enormous impact on all. He will truly be missed but he lives on because his teaching was so impactful.

Please know how sorry I am for your loss.  Tilo was one of the finest teachers I have had the privilege to know.  He set such a high standard for himself and for his students that he inspired the rest of us to go the extra mile for our students.  I was honored to work with him for 17 years and am certain that he will be missed by legions of grateful students and colleagues.

Mr. Gomez was easily my favorite teacher at Rummel, as well.  His classes were the toughest, yet nobody seemed to mind putting in the work for him because we adored him so much.  Our calculus class threw him a surprise pizza party on our last day.

A wonderful person and one of my favorite teachers at Rummel who really made me love Mathematics. I will miss him until I see him again in Our Father's house. On Thursday I will offer Mass for him here as I cannot be present at the funeral services.

My deep felt condolences go out to Loyola, Ricardo, Alisa, Carmen and Rob. Although this is a very sad time, I choose to recall and celebrate the many good things about Tilo.  I will always remember him as a quiet, stately, intelligent, and refined gentleman; and a good friend and neighbor to my family.  He was an ardent and proud supporter of Rummel High School and was always kind to me - even in spite of the fact that I went to De La Salle. ;-)

I think that it is his warm quick smile that I will always remember most, so I hope my attempt at levity also brings a small smile to you all as well in such a difficult time.

The love of your family will get you through this hard time.  Eventually this pain will pass and your wonderful memories will come easily and the painful ones will fade away.  I know how hard this is and know that my thoughts are with you.

I am very sorry for your loss... Mr. Gomez was my favorite teacher at Rummel and he was the best at what he did.  In fact, one year in his Calculus class got me through 3 semesters of Calculus in college... From being a great teacher to being a great person, Mr. Gomez was the model of what a teacher should be. Although no words can really help to easy the loss your family bears, just know that your family are very close in every thought and prayer.  Hold tight to memories for comfort, lean on your friends and family for strength and always remember how much you are cared about. God bless you all.
