Audrey Mae Friel

Audrey Guidry Mader Friel, passed away peacefully in her home on September 5, 2012 at the age of 77. Beloved wife by 1st marriage to the late Ashton Mader and by 2nd marriage to the late John Friel, Sr. She was the loving mother of Keith “Sandy” Mader (Sheryl), Stephen “Randy” Mader (Taryn), Michelle Mader Pool (Bryan Munster) and Wendy Mader. Step-mother of John Friel, Jr. (Mary), Allen, Daniel (Becky), Gerrard, Michael (Denise) and the late Elaine Friel. She was the devoted grandmother of Erin, Amy, Stephanie, Ashton, Ashley, Stephen, Jr., Jerry, the late Lauren and Elaine. Great grandmother of Laila, Jordan, Nicholas, Matthew, Conner, Ashton, Jr., Kaden, Lana and Harper. She was also step-grandmother to 8 Friel grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

She was born and raised in Grand Isle, LA and was a longtime resident of Metairie, LA. She was a founding parishioner of St. Ann’s Church and has been a Saints fan since the first game attended by the family in 1967. Retired from Blue Cross after 20 years. She became totally devoted to her family and all the things she loved; traveling, celebrating the holidays, gardening, dancing, reading, cooking for her family and most of all spending time with her grand and great grandchildren. She was loved by her family and friends and she will be greatly missed. She may be gone but she will never be forgotten.

The relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
