

.Calvin Arnold Rauch, Sr., age 86, died peacefully at River Region Hospice with his family near and returned to Jesus and Mary on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Beloved and adored husband of Marlene Berger Rauch of 59 years. Calvin was the devoted father to his only son whom he cherished—Calvin Arnold Rauch, Jr. “Coach Sonny”. Son of the late Julia Haase and Wm. H. Rauch Sr. Brother of his late twin Warren Albert Rauch, Dr. William H. Rauch Jr., and Ethel B. Cavaretta. Loving cousin of Joyce D. Ferger. Loving and caring uncle of Harold G. Ferger, Jr., Mayon Rauch Stillabower (Terry) and Gail Rauch Whitfield (Van Pierce). Survived by 5 great nieces and nephews and 7 great, great nieces and nephews. Also survived by loving friends Warren and Peggy Brue and many cousins and friends. Born in New Orleans, LA and resided in Lakeview and moved to Metairie in 2000. Calvin graduated from Fortier High School and Soule College. He retired from Lykes Bros. Steamship Company after 45 years of service, was a member of the Quarter Century Club and played baseball and basketball for Lykes in the C.C.A. league.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Veith for his tender, expert care, support and service to Calvin. Also the EJGH Yenni Center, the Oncology, and SNU Unit and River Region Hospice for their care and support during this stressful time in our lives. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 17, 2010 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at the Metairie home of THARP-SONTHEIMER-THARP, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. at 43rd Street followed by Funeral Mass at !2:00 Noon officiated by the Rev. Msgr. Robert Massett and Deacon Harold Gaule. Interment will be private.
