

Carl E. Grieshaber, age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 5, 2011. A resident of Metairie for the last 49 years. Beloved husband for 63 years of Carlene Leeds Grieshaber. Son of the late Rudolph and Evelyn Truesdell Grieshaber and brother of the late Ann G. Hill. Cousin of F. Barry Truesdell. Devoted father to Martin (Heather), Ronald (Vicki), Janis, David, Thomas (André) and Cathleen (Joe) Uzee. Grandfather of Kelly G. (Patrick McAtee), Pearce, Andrew, Cole and Allie Grieshaber, Conner, Brett and Sarah Uzee and Jessica M. Suhowatsky. Great grandfather of Collin, Lindsay, Reid, Cy and Lily McAtee. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was born in Marysville, Kansas on April 1, 1925. He attended Marysville High School then enlisted in the Army Air Corps. After earning his wings in June 1944, he completed 77 missions over the Himalayas from China to India as a 1st Lieutenant. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal and a medal of appreciation from the Chinese government. After the war he attended Kansas State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. He worked for several major and independent oil and gas companies. He retired from Dominion Resources in 1990. He was a parishioner of St. Philip Neri Parish, a member of New Orleans Geological Society, Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and the Kansas State University Alumni Association. He served on the Geological Advisory Board at K-State University, belonged to the St. Philip Neri and Archbishop Rummel Grandparents Clubs, Marysville High School Alumni Association, Hump Pilots Association (China, Burma, India), AAF Pilot Classes of W.W.II, the American Legion, and a Charter member of the World War II Museum. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 11:00 am. Visitation from 9:00 am until time of services. Interment will be held at a later date.
