Catherine Simmons Mangipano

Catherine Viola Simmons Mangipano passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at age 85 at East Jefferson Hospital surrounded by those who loved her. Catherine “Kitty” as she was known to family and friends, had a love for football and a passion for “her Saints”, the LSU Tigers, Championship Wrestling and Roller Derby. She will be sadly missed by her only child, her loving daughter, Darnell “Cookie” Mangipano LeBlanc and her son-in-law Kenneth M. LeBlanc and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Catherine is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony Joseph Mangipano, her parents, James Ulric Simmons and Rose Victoria Casano Simmons, and her brothers, Joseph (Josie), James Jr. (Stella) and Warren (Helen) Simmons, and her sisters, Adele Mangipano (Santo) and June Rose Robinson (Charles). Catherine desired to be cremated and her cremains placed with her late husband at Lakelawn Cemetery.

A Catholic graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Corridor of Grace in Lakelawn Cemetery. A celebration of her life reception will follow at her home. Masses would be appreciated. Arrangements by Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp.
