Christopher David Cooke

Christopher David Cooke, beloved father, husband, son, brother, and friend, passed away on July 31, 2024, at the age of 42. Born on November 29, 1981, Chris had a natural gift for connecting with people. From his earliest days playing soccer and swimming, to his lifelong involvement with the Krewe of Little Rascals, through his high school years and professional career, Chris’s extraordinary ability to make others feel accepted and understood, allowed him to touch the lives of many and leave every new encounter as a friend for life. To have known Chris, no matter how brief, was to truly love him.

Chris attended Jefferson Parish Public Schools and graduated from East Jefferson High School in 2000. At the age of 15, he took apart and rebuilt his first engine, discovering what would become a lifelong passion for auto mechanics. This passion led him to become the manager of SpeeDee Oil Change on St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans and later the owner of Go Mobile Mechanics. His professional success was owed not only to his technical brilliance but his innate ability for making people feel seen and valued.

Chris built a loving family with his wife, Stephanie, and together they raised four children: Jaden, Anastyn, Leitan, and Aibren. He is also survived by his parents, David and Dorothy Cooke, as well as his brothers, Matthew (Stephanie), Nathan, and Luke.

Chris was a kind soul who friends and family described as warm and charasmatic and who “would give the shirt off his back“. Chris will be remembered as a loving father and cherished husband, son, brother & friend.

All who loved Chris are invited to attend a celebration of his life at Leitz Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie, LA 70006, on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m., with a service to follow at 6 p.m.
