Cynthia Kolwe Bulger passed away suddenly on Friday, May 9, 2025. The beloved daughter of the late Ronald Kolwe and Joanne Gomez Kolwe, she was born in New Orleans, raised in Metairie with her sister Gwen, and had been a cherished resident of St. Rose for over forty years.
Cindy was a proud graduate of St. Lawrence and Archbishop Chapelle, and she built a respected career as a senior legal assistant in GEICO’s staff counsel division, and had also worked as a dental assistant and bookkeeper. However, her greatest and most treasured role was being a devoted mother to her two adoring sons, John “Jay” Bulger IV and Kenneth “Kenny” Lachney Jr. After the heartbreaking loss of the love of her life, John Bulger III, to leukemia in 2005, Cindy poured her heart into raising Jay as a single mother, ensuring he had a life filled with love, guidance, and unwavering support. Later, she found immense joy in her expanding family, as Kenny and his wife Courtney gave her two beautiful grandchildren in Kenny III and Emilyn, who brought her so much joy and so many happy memories.
Cindy was renowned for her kindness, empathy, and generosity—qualities that inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a comforting presence, a guiding light, and a true example of selflessness. Her proudest achievements were her sons, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear.
She will be profoundly missed by the countless lives she touched, but her spirit remains in the lessons she taught, the love she shared, and the example she set for all of us. As we grieve her loss, we also strive to honor her memory by living with the same grace, kindness, and strength that she so beautifully embodied.
A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home in Metairie on Thursday, May 22, 2025, with visitation from 5-7 PM and service at 7 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor her memory, sharing stories, laughter, and love—just as she would have wanted.
Though she is no longer with us in body, Cindy’s love, warmth, and unwavering spirit will remain in our hearts until we meet again.
