Ray first met Dan on a business trip to Cape May NJ.  They ended up in Philly and watched the UK vs Duke National Championship game.  We (in KY) still hate Christian Laettner, too!  It was the beginning of a great friendship!, of course.  

As our dear sweet Kristen mentioned, Danny had many crazy friends and Ray and I are so honored to be in that number.  We love Danny so much and will miss him terribly.

Camille, you walked a hard road, but you did well for a good man.  We hope to be a support for you as we all try to walk on without our sweet Danny.

One of the things I remember most about Dan is his laugh: loud, full, and hearty!

I feel blessed to have spent some wonderful family holidays at Dan's house. Even on the first visit, as part of my sister's in-law's extended family, I was welcomed into his home and embraced by his love and caring. And his excellent cooking!

He enthusiastically shared his recipe for Shrimp Corn Chowder with my mother and it's an all-time family favorite. He tenderly would make sure that the ladies had a hand if they needed it, while traversing the uneven sidewalks of the French Quarter during Mardi Gras. His passion for life was palpable and contagious.

My husband, Troy, and I are sorry that we could not attend the memorial service for Dan. He was a special man that will be greatly missed.

I am deeply sadden by Dan's death.  He  had a special enthusiasm for life which was contagious.

I am so sorry I was not able to be there to honor his life and say goodbye.  I have been a member of Dan's extended family for 14 years and have been welcomed into his home on many occasions.  He was a wonderful host and I have many memories of the times I was a guest in his home.  Holidays were always special with spirited football games, extraordinary food, and family fun.  I was honored to be part of these occasions and will always cherish my memories of him and these times.

I am honored to have known him and to have been his friend.  I will miss him greatly.

Camille, Dan was a gentleman, a fantastic chef, a solid friend and a caring guy. Bless him and you. Tony h.

I was greatly saddened to learn of of my old schoolmate Dan's passing. He will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of having him touch our lives. Many condolences to his family in this difficult time.


Caring, understanding, helpful and self-giving.  I am truly blessed to know Dan.  My unique situation of parents and stepparents that share an ongoing daily friendship is just one of my many blessings that God has graced me with and brought into my life through Dan.

I have known Dan since I was in the 8th grade (1986).  Ever since he entered my life, he has filled it with his unique love.  Throughout my high school and college years I remember all the trips to the beach in Florida.  Sometimes my mom and I went with his crazy friends and also with family and my daughter.  I remember how we often had a condo or house right on the beach!

I remember one visit to Pensacola (Barefoot Billy's which is no longer there due to hurricanes).  Dan was helping me walk from our condominium to a spot on the sand.  As he was going to set up our towels, he asked me if I had my balance and foothold before he let my arm go.  I told him yes.  Then, when a gentle breeze came sweeping over the sands, I lost my balance and fell right there in the sand!

I tell this story to many people about how powerful the wind (or breeze) can be.  Every time I feel the wind, I remember how powerful the Holy Spirit is and now I can remember Dan's helping hand too!

Dan, may your spirit rest with the Spirit of God!

In addition to my memories of Dan and the beach, I also have a fond memory of when I attended the Jazz Fest with him.  It was late in the afternoon so the sun was disappearing. The Fest was ending and we were enjoying the last band perform (forgive me Dan, it wouldn't be truly myself if I didn't know the band!  You were, and will always be my “go-to guy” for any pertinent information!) 

 Anyway, I remember Dan yelling to the band “RED DRESS! RED DRESS!” (the name of a Radiator's song).  I remember Dan and the entire crowd singing/chanting “wooo wooo……wooo wooo….” during the song “Sympathy For The Devil”.

After researching this song and it's lyrics, it turns out that “Sympathy for the Devil”  is actually one of “the most profoundly Christian songs ever written.” http://www.lyricinterpretations.com/

What a great memory!  Dan is a profoundly Christian man!
