

On April 3, 2010, David Feltey, age 52, did not go gently into that good night as he lost his battle with lung cancer. David is survived by his wife Jeanne, his son Bradford, and his mother Betty Jean Feltey. He is also survived by his siblings: Kathryn, Patricia, Christopher, Elizabeth, Shawn and two nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by six weeks by his father Lt. Col. Donald R. Feltey (ret.). David was born on Guam on February 7, 1958. He attended Holy Family School in Honolulu, Hawaii and graduated from Fairborn Baker High School in Fairborn, Ohio. After graduating from UNO with a degree in Communications, he was involved with educational television broadcasting with NOETC, New Orleans Educational Telecommunications Consortium. David was involved with the former Pilney Little League for ten years; he was the former vice-president of the Lafreniere Soccer Club (currently known as the Chicago Fire). He was an active board member, and U-6 age group director of Chicago Fire. He was also a referee and a referee assigner for the Chicago Fire. David was a proud member of BPOE #30. He was also a writer and photographer who focused much of his work on post Katrina New Orleans and Cancer Survival. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 6-9 PM at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 7, at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 3421 W. Metairie Ave., Metairie. Visitation on Wednesday will be from 12 Noon until 1 pm at the church. Interment to follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
