Donald George Leche

Donald George Leche, a lifelong resident of Metairie, LA, entered into eternal rest on February 7, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 85. Beloved husband of 62 years to Shirley Cipriano Leche. Cherished father of Terri Leche Pistorius (Dominic) and Jamie Leche McCaffery (Tim). The best Granddad in the world to Nicolle Lemoine Bowman (Perry), Timothy McCaffery (Jonée), Michael Lemoine (Renee), Johanna McCaffery Ross (Jeremy), and Tyler McCaffery. He received great joy in his later years from his great grandchildren Sage and Jackson Bowman; Peter, Blaise, Bernadette, and Baby McCaffery; Anna and Paul Lemoine; and Elliott Ross. He was loving Uncle Don to numerous nieces and nephews and many more great nieces and nephews, and will also be missed by his beloved dogs Millie and Maddie. Brother to the late Frank Bechtel, Jewel Fruchnicht (Donald), the late Lyle Leche (June), the late Jack Leche (Cheryl), Diane Dykes (Bob), and Karen Banta (Lenny). Beloved son of the late Chester George Leche and the late Sadie Ovella Leche. Mr. Leche proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the reconstruction of Germany after WWII and into the Korean War Conflict. He sold cars nearly all his life and loved going to work in the morning until very near the end. He will be fondly remembered as a lover of animals, especially horses and birds, and for his incredible ability to laugh at his own jokes. Flowers and donations may be sent in his name to St. Philip Neri Church, Metairie. All are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Philip Neri Church, 6500 Kawanee Ave., Metairie, LA 70003 on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 12:00pm.
