He will be greatly missed by his daughter Anna Vercher Dietz and son-in-law Scott Dietz, his grandchildren Donny and Brittany (mother Terry Conway), as well as his great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Burnell and Juliet Ann Vercher, Clyde and Tiny Vercher and his loving sister Learnine Roberson, along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born and raised on a farm in Colfax, Louisiana, Donald attended LSU School of Agriculture. He moved to New Orleans in his early 20’s, and started a family. While working in the printing business, he attended HVAC and refrigeration school where he received his certification. He later established an advertising delivery business which operated over 25 years.
Donald held a life-long passion for Cajun culture, music and dancing. He was active in the Cajun French Music Association where he served on the Board of Directors in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.
He will be greatly missed by so many friends and family. And, we will surely miss his chicken and sausage gumbo!
Private services were held on April 21st at Leitz-Eagan funeral home in Metairie.
For Donald’s love of music and dance, a “Celebration of Life” event will be held Thursday evening, June 7th, at Rock ‘n’ Bowl, 3016 Carrollton Avenue, New Orleans.
