Dorothy "Dot" Gaillot Solito

Dorothy “Dot” Gaillot Solito passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Solito. Mother of Jodi Solito and Brian Solito. Daughter of the late Bernard Gaillot, Sr. and Ruth Gaillot. Sister of Thais Cimo (Chris), Beryl Gallagher (the late Harold) and Jacquelyn Bruno (Victor) and the late Bernard Gaillot, Sr., Raymond Gaillot, William Gaillot, Donald Gaillot, Martin Gaillot, Mary Ellen Gaillot and Adrianne Gaillot. Sister-in-law of the late Salvador Solito, Rose Solito Davis, Frances Solito Rutledge and Marie Solito Clomburg. Grandmother of Brandon Bowman and Adriana Bowman. Great grandmother of Rallie Bowman. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She was a resident of Metairie for the past 17 years and previously lived in Houma, LA where she owned and operated Houma Office Equipment and Supply with her husband. She was a graduate of Roubin High School and excelled in sewing and making clothes for her children. She was also a member of the Lions Club in Houma and Kenner.

The family would like to express their thanks for the loving care she received from Colonial Oaks Nursing Home and also many thanks to Hospice Compassus.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Lung Association, 2325 Severn Avenue, Suite 8, Metairie, LA 70001. Please indicate Mrs. Solito’s name on the outside of the envelope.
