

Elzy Julius Lindsey, 78, of New Orleans, passed away on May 29, 2015 after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Leitz-Eagan, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Metairie. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Leitz-Eagan with Father Henry of St. Henry’s Church (retired) officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Park, Avondale. Arrangements are by Leitz-Eagan. Mr. Lindsey was born in New Orleans to Merlin and Lottie Lindsey on August 19, 1936. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving on the USS Wisconsin and USS Roanoke. He married Andree Johansen Lindsey on September 8, 1962 and together they had two sons, Elzy and Gary Lindsey. He worked as a sheet metal mechanic for National Blowpipe for many years. He was a member of the K of C De La Salle Council 3411 and his beloved Oblong Table Golf Club. He is preceded in death by his wife Andree, son Gary, his parents, Merlin and Lottie Lindsey, and his sister, Jane Shepherd and brother, Merlin Lindsey. He is survived by his son, Elzy J. Lindsey and his wife, Keely Carlisle, his niece, Felicia Zapalowski, his brother Wendling “Brother” Lindsey and sister, Claire Austin. He is also survived by three beautiful granddaughters, Morgan, Aidan and Rowan Lindsey, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and amazing lifelong friends.
