I met Ernest at Noritsu School in Dallas in 1998. We went to 5 training classes together at Eckerds and worked together at Noritsu. He was a great and funny guy and I will miss him until I die. 
  Ernest used to call me every Christmas. He didn't last year, but I was thinking it was because of Covid. I didn't know he had passed. So sad right now. I loved that man. I wish his family well

I miss you so much and can’ t believe you are gone.  You are my brother, my friend and my heart.  Go be with Mama, Daddy, Grandma, Papa, Mami and Grandpa.  Don’t be afraid they got you. A co-worker who made a two week class, snowstorm in Dallas a lot more fun. He somehow became EarNest from a discussion about accents. I am so sorry for your loss... 

I met Ernie at Joys Cinema Six. Over the last 48 or so years we had stayed friends . Always a smile, Always a Joker, Always a Slogan, Always something , ALWAYS POSSITIVE! I'll Miss You ERNIE,      Carl "Cheese" Livermore

Ernest and I worked at Noritsu together. He had the most contagious laugh. He had me crying from laughter on more than one occasion. Our phone calls were always fun and filled with laughter. Thank you for helping me out of more than one tight situation. I will miss your messages. I will miss you.

Ernie, went to school with my brother. I graduated from Chapelle, 1977. My son, is currently in the Navy for almost 11 yrs. Ernie would alway in-box me, when I was scared for my son, or worried about things he was going through or when things would happen to my son in the Navy! Ernie would always assure me things would be fine! Ernie, was truly a friend. He made comments to me days before his passing, not ever mentioning himself. I wish I knew the time was that near, I would had thanked him even more, for his calming words and advice he was always willing to give, He will be truly missed, Rest In Peace my friend!  

My goodness. I was a Rummel '75 graduate with Ernie. This is such a shock. I should relay this sad news to the members of the Dirty Dozen. Everyone has said that he was funny and a great friend. I can definitely agree. All I can say is thank God for Facebook. We manage to stay in touch through this app. Ernie, Brother we shall miss you dearly...

From the first day we started working together, he was always smiling and laughing.
That was so many years ago, but he never changed.
My visits to New Orleans from here on will always be a good memory of our friendship.

I was also a Rummell 5 graduate. I did stay in touch with Ernie threw FB and he always passed along some jokes. I last saw him after a Saints Game, when  We were in town. Prayers for Your entire Family

Debby and I are grieving for you all.  We hope and pray that you will get through this tough time with the memories of Love and Laughter.

I knew Ernie as Mr. Marcotte from his wedding, to his man-kini, to his thoughts of Costa Rica.  He  always made me laugh with stories and was a very kind friend.  He will be greatly missed by us all.

To Sue and the entire family, Ernest was put on this earth to make people laugh. There have been so many good times with him. I absolutely love one of his last posts on  Facebook with Forrest Gump! Just like him and always optimistic even then. He always sent me the best jokes and we would laugh and laugh! He will be missed and is making everyone laugh in a better place now! Prayers to all the Family and Friends.

Susan , There is a piece of our hearts that left with Ernest . He will always be remembered as the most wonderful spirited guy we know. He is with his parents and the Lord. My favorite memory with Ernest was attending my first Mardi Gras.   Susan and Ernest hosted me to one of the finest,  funnest, most memorable evenings at the parades.  We laughed , we cried, we hugged in joy of the occasion and each others company.  Ernest was full of humor and great character and I feel blessed to have had his friendship .  He was Susan’s love and her rock and a gift to anyone who knew him.  He will be greatly missed 

Ernie was every bodies friend . Always telling jokes , making people laugh . I use to have lunch with him almost everyday at ARHS. I spoke  with him just a few days before he left us. 
He will be missed .

Ernie and I went to High School together at ARHS and while we did not see each other much since those days I can still see Ernie in my minds eye,  laughing and making others laugh, 45 years later.   He was just a great person to be around and I will always remember him that way.   I can remember his many friends calling him EEEARNIEEE during and after school. 
 After looking through the many pictures posted I can see that he was the same man during his adult life and clearly he loved and was loved by all.

To Ernie Steinvorth's family; My most  profound and heartfelt condolences. I can only echo what Rich Bishop has already penned- that Ernie was a great human being,  Sailor, Shipmate, and friend. I spent one particular day with Ernie and another Sailor scoping out an obscure African Isle on a deployment in 1978. It was a laid back day that stands out amongst a bunch of other ones but more so because of its unique nature.  When I think about how we all managed to survive being confined to a  floating grey monastery like the Spruance without  losing it, it was because of people like Ernie who could laugh at about anything and take you along for the ride.  He'll be sorely missed, at least in this world. He'll be waiting for us in the next.

To Ernie's family. The time I spent stationed with him onboard USS Spruance (DD-963) left me with many good memories of him. He was always smiling and laughing no matter what was happening, whether good times or bad. He always had a joke or two and was great for morale. He served his country well and you can be proud of that service.
To Ernie. Your bright smile will not be forgotten.  RIP shipmate, we have the watch.
