Fay Chase Cannizzaro

Fay Chase Cannizzaro passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 9, 2015. She was a day shy of 91 years old. Beloved wife of the late Peter Cannizzaro Jr. Loving mother of Cheryl C. Faust (the late William Faust III), Peter Cannizzaro III (Beth), Cynthia Cannizzaro, and the late Dale Cannizzaro. Grandmother of Christopher Cannizzaro, William Bryant Faust IV, Melissa Faust Cooper, Courtnie Faust Spinola, George E. Faust, Peter Cannizzaro IV, Stratton Muhmel, Brenton Muhmel, David Richard, Christopher Richard, and the late Nicole Cannizzaro and Wesley Brent Faust. Great-grandmother of 15. Daughter of the late Frank and Hazel Brink Chase. Sister of the late Charles Chase and Peggy Chase Reggio. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Fay was a native of New Orleans, and resident of Metairie since 1970. She was a 1940 graduate of Sophie B. Wright High School, and later pursued a fine arts degree from Delgado. She dedicated her life to loving and supporting her family, and after the passing of her beloved husband, she joined the staff of St. Mary’s Dominican High School, serving as a receptionist for over 25 years. She was a parishioner of St. Clement of Rome since she moved to Metairie, and became a Eucharistic Minister and also taught CCD. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass from ST. CLEMENT OF ROME, 4317 Richland Avenue, Metairie, on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will begin in church at 10:00 in the morning. Inurnment will follow in Lake Lawn Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to St. Mary’s Dominican High School, 2833 Burdette Street, New Orleans 70125 are preferred.
