Frances Vita Benetrix

Frances Vita Benetrix departed this life peacefully, sleeping in her bed at home on June 13, 2022. She was born Frances Dorothy Vita on December 3, 1951 to Anthony Vita and Margurite Bondi Vita who predeceased her. She is survived by her loving daughters, Cherie Benetrix Dillenkoffer (Dennis) and Catherine Benetrix Miranda (Norman); her adored grandchildren, Anthony Brocato and Angelina Miranda and her beloved brothers and sister, Anthony, Thomas, Giovanni and Nina Vita. She is also survived by her husband of 33 years, Royal G. Benetrix, her uncle, Thomas Bondi Jr. and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Vita.

Frances was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and was a longtime resident of Lakeview. She attended St. Peter and Paul School in the old 9th ward and was a member of St. Dominic’s Church in Lakeview. Frances was a passionate sister, mother, grandmother, and trailblazing woman in business. Aside from the joy of spending time with her loved ones, she enjoyed devoting time to her beloved St Joseph’s Altars, enjoying a good meal at local restaurants, and cooking amazing meals for both family and friends. She was a bright spark and will be missed by many.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie, LA, on Friday, June 17, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM followed by the Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at noon. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA.
