Francis Joseph Cousins, 84, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 7, 1940, Francis built his life on love, faith, and family. He served proudly in the Army National Guard and leaves behind a legacy of devotion to those he loved most, his family.
Francis is survived by his devoted wife, Mildred Cousins; his children, Philip Cousins, Melissa Greer and her husband Jeffery, and Charles Cousins and his wife Carol in addition to his grandchildren, Corey Cousins and his wife Hannah, Ashley Petersen and her husband Matthew, Jeremy Cousins and his wife Hillary, Cassidy Allen and her husband Tadarrius, and Maria (Mia) Nicaud. He was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren: Rilynn Cousins, Ethan Cousins, Cole Petersen, Nolan Petersen, Brooklyn Petersen, Vivian Cousins, Oliver Cousins, Weston Cousins, Elijah Cousins, and Drake Allen and his siblings, Kathleen Kruger, Ileana Messer, Maria Cousins, and Bernard Cousins.
Francis was a man of faith and a proud member of Celebration Church. He loved being part of the senior group and always looked forward to the bus trips with his wife, which brought him so much joy and laughter. He had a passion for golf and was happiest in front of the TV cheering on LSU or the Saints, enjoying one of Millie’s home-cooked meals, or simply spending time with his family.
Above all, Francis will be remembered for how deeply he loved his family. He carried an unmatched pride in each of them and loved without judgment. He was always there, steady, supportive, and full of love. He would often say, “this is the one who loves you the most,” and that love was felt by everyone around him. His presence was a blessing, and his legacy of love will live on in the lives of all who loved him.
