

Fred “Freddie” Eugene Fabre, Jr., 90, of Kenner, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Freddie is survived by his children, Fred Fabre, III (Joan Molbert), Judith F. Kelley (Ronald), Trish Tillman (Donald); a son-in-law, James Cherry, Jr.; a sister, Linda Sue Magri and a sister-in-law, Joyce Wagner Fabre. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Eugene Fabre, Sr. and Claire Marguerite Kerner; his wife, Dorothea “Patsy” Fabre; a brother, Edward Ronald; a daughter, Peggy Cherry and a great-grandchild.
Freddie was born February 13, 1932 in New Orleans and graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School in 1950. He joined the United States Army and served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. Freddie attended Gulf Radio and TV School from 1953 to 1956, worked at Stevens TV Service for 15 years and owned and operated Freddie’s TV Service for 17 years. In his retirement, Freddie enjoyed caring for his wife of almost 69 years, cooking, gardening, and working in his garage. He could build or repair anything. He was a dedicated Saints fan and was also a frequent blood donor at EJGH and earned the “Gallon Donor Award.”
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie. A Mass will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in St. Vincent de Paul no. 1 Cemetery on Soniat St. in New Orleans.
