Frederick Henry Taylor Sr.

He was born in New Orleans, LA on September 17, 1926 to the late Edmund Taylor and Edith Acher Taylor. Vetter Ann Amadeo Taylor, his beloved and loving wife of almost 60 years, preceded him in death in 2007. His 2 brothers and 3 sisters also preceded him in death.

He was a proud member of the United States Navy. He served in World War II in Pearl Harbor aboard the LSM 246. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Francis of Assisi Parish when he resided in Uptown New Orleans, LA. He held the position of secretary and was awarded the Outstanding Knight of the Year during his service with the Knights of Columbus. He was an electrician by trade but was considered a “Jack of all trades” as he could fix just about anything. He loved cowboys, western movies, and old music. He was constantly watching The Lone Ranger, Tarzan, or Lawrence Welk. His favorite meal was “meat da balls and spaghetti”, a Barq’s Root Beer (had to be in a bottle!), Little Debbie cakes, and a Mounds chocolate bar. He sure did love his sweets! He loved all animals especially his dogs, cats, and turtles, whom he referred to as “his children.” He was also known for always having an amazing garden in which he was so proud of and often shared his homegrown vegetables with others. He would do anything to help anyone in need. He was affectionately called “Big Freddie” or “Poppadoo” by family members. He had the most beautiful blue eyes and was always smiling even until his final days. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He fought a good fight but is now whole again in Heaven with God. We can all hear him saying, “How sweet it is!!” and “See you later alligator, after while crocodile.”

His most treasured accomplishment was the beautiful family that he made with Vetter Ann Amadeo Taylor. He is survived by his children, Vetter Ann Taylor O’neal, Frederick Henry Taylor, Jr. (BB), Mary Lena Taylor, Carol Marie Taylor Lama (Tony), Joseph Peter Taylor, Sr., Deborah Lynn Taylor Joly (Justin), Michael Gerard Taylor, and Lisa L Taylor (fiancé Gary). He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Rita Taylor Schultz.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 6425 W. Metairie Ave. Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM with a funeral Mass to begin at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery, 1950 Soniat St. New Orleans, LA.
