Gail A. Young

Gail A. Young, age 75, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025. Gail was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the daughter of the late William G. Young and Maxine Sherman Young. She is survived by her siblings, William S. Young (Frances) and Patricia "Patty" A. Young, as well as a nephew, Bernie, and a niece, Betsy.

Gail worked in the Orleans Parish School Board, working in the film library for 25 years. When Gail met a friend, she never kept them as an acquaintance; they were lifelong friends, including Susan Linam Cantrell and many others, and she was fondly known as Aunt Gail to Nicholas Hebert and Anne Marie Gaudin Pennington. Many friends survive her, and she will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Gail loved the fine arts, including opera, museums, and art galleries. She enjoyed attending live performances, such as ballets or theatrical productions.

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Gail on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA, from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Following the service, there will be a continuation of sharing stories and memories at the Swamp Room, 5400 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA, at your own expense.
