Herbert Meyer Wolkis

Herbert Meyer Wolkis, loving husband of Oeline “Lynn” Wolkis, went home to be with Jesus on Sept. 29, 2011. Born in Brooklyn, NY in January 1923. He was a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps Bombadier/Navigator during World War II. Loving father to Barry (Margie) and Kenny (Jodi) Wolkis and loving stepdad to Duane, Daryl (Annie) and Jerry (Connie) Moore and Taryn (Terry) M. Smith. Grandfather of Leanna W. Goldstein, David Wolkis, Raelyn Wolkis Carnahan, Ryann Wolkis. Brooke Stewart, Beau (Randi Degges) Moore, Daryl Moore, Jr., Travis (Rosalyn) Moore, Chase Moore, Trista M. (Lorenzo) Lopez, Taryn Moore, Taylor Moore, Erica Smith, Alexis Smith and Seth Smith. Great grandfather of Connor Carnahan, Brandon Merill, Nate Merill, Damion Bivens, Aiden Moore, Allie Moore, Avalina Moore, Melania Lopez, Manuel Lopez and Tatum Moore. Herb never met a stranger, was a great storyteller, an avid golfer and loved to travel and work in his shop. His greatest legacy is the thousands of “JESUS” plaques he made and gave to everyone. We will celebrate his life and homegoing at Lakeview Christian Center, 5885 Fleur de lis Dr., NOLA on Oct. 4, 2011at 11:30 am. Visitation from 10:00 am until time of service.
