Hong Lee Lew (Lily) Yip passed away peacefully Thursday, March 26, 2020. Beloved mother of Jeanette Yip Hew (Maurice), Wallace S. Yip, Jr. (Mary), Barbara Yip Douglas (Bobby), Nellie Yip Underwood (David) and Lotus Yip Cosmo (Danny). Loving Grandmother to Maurice Hew Jr. (Beth), Jennifer Hew, Jessica Hew (Greg), Kymberlee Yip Byrd (Paul), Bruce J. Sanders, Jr. (Cherie), Wallace S. Yip III, Lauren Underwood Tauzin (Shawn), and Alexander Underwood. Devoted Great-Grandmother to Grayson Byrd, Colby Byrd, Lindsay Haley (Paul), Joshua Hew, Sarah Hew and Blake Sanders. Great-Great-Grandmother to Christopher Haley. Loving sister of Wing Kwong Lew (Jane), and Fung Li Lew (Leah) Chu. Aunt to Mary Chu, Jeannie Chu, James Chu, Dennis Lew (Martha), Elizabeth Lew and Great-Aunt to Annabel and Kristen Lew. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wallace S.(Wah Sim) Yip,Sr. ,her parents, Lim Chom Lao and Yuk Pui Lew, Sister Bow Li Lew Eng, Brothers-in-Law Tom Eng and Paul Chu, Nieces May Eng and Nancy Chu, and Nephew Gordon Chu.

Hong Lee was a giving and loving woman to her family and friends. She was born in Toi San, China in 1926, the eldest of 4. After her marriage to Wallace (Wah Sim) Yip,Sr., they arrived in San Francisco, CA, from Hong Kong in 1947, re-locating to New Orleans in 1949. She was a hard worker alongside her husband and proprietors of Ding How Laundry and Cleaners for 50 years until their retirement in 1997. Hong Lee enjoyed cruising, traveling, playing Bingo and Mah Jong, mall walking, going to Dim Sum, visits to the Casinos, cooking, and an active member of the Panda Senior Group at Chinese Presbyterian Church.

Due to present health restrictions, a private, family burial will take place. A "Celebration of Life" will be held at a later date.
