Ira Hill Veazey

Ira Hill Veazey, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 17, 2015. Beloved husband of Voncille Nunn Veazey for 63 years. Father of Deborah V. Pell (husband, John, Jr.) and Mark Veazey. Grandfather of Jennifer Lingle (husband, Craig), Stacy Rouquette (husband, the late Steve), John Pell, III, Laura Veazey, Hillary Fremin (husband, Nick) and Paul Veazey. Great grandfather of Brittany Lingle, Elijah Lingle, Lorelei Lingle, Annabelle Rouquette, Cecelia Lingle and Stephen Fremin. Brother of the late Orrin Veazey and Elwin Veazey. Son of the late Benjamin Veazey and Maggie Black Veazey. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Veazey was the owner of Veazey Suppliers, was a U.S. Air Force veteran, was a member of First Baptist Church of Covington, a former member of Riverside Baptist Church and a former member of the Gideons. Mr. Veazey was a godly husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He was very devoted to his family and will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie on Friday, May 22, 2015 beginning at 11:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel.
