James Ranson

He was born in New Orleans, LA, on January 4, 1935, to the late Mae and Emerson Ranson. Jim graduated from Warren Easton High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1957.

Jim was a well-loved, respected businessman and member of the community. He had several hobbies including owning and racing hydroplanes, fishing, a weekly poker game, and playing pool. He also enjoyed “dancing with the dollies” and watching NASCAR. He was a member of the New Orleans Power Boat Association and several New Orleans pool leagues.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Jamie Crawford, of Katy, TX; son-in-law, Geoffrey Crawford, of Katy, TX; his granddaughter, Hailee Crawford, of Houston, TX; his nephews, Allen R. Persick, of Baton Rouge, LA; and Randall Persick, of Baton Rouge, LA.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Jessie Persick; brother, Billy Ranson; and grandson, Chaz Crawford.

Memorial services will be held at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metarie, LA 70001 (504-833-7105) at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014. His family requests that you please join them for a celebration of the life of Jim Ranson.
