Amanda, I am so sorry to hear of the lost of your father. I thank you for introducing him to me years ago. I  moved to his neighborhood not to long ago and I think of him whenever I pass the house on Cypress. It always reminds me of the story he told me when I first met him. He took me on a tour inside and showed me how he lifted the second floor loft onto his house, while neighbors starred and told him it could not be done. We'll he did it. He showed me every nut, bolt, bracket and piece of wood used to secure it. It was quite remarkable, just like him. You and your family have been and will always be in my prayers. Marty Rabalais

I was privileged to get to know Jim during the years that he and I were both active with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.   To Amanda, Rachel and Scott- I don't know if you'll remember me, but I am Deeply Sorry to hear about the loss of your Father. I am in total shock!  I had the privilege of knowing your Dad, as well as you guys for a little while. I will Treasure every moment of those times!  I remember Amanda needed a Silver Clutch purse and your Dad had no idea of what that was. He was so confused about the word Clutch, meaning something for the car he said..I lost it and laughed so hard. I told Jim not to worry I had one for Amanda but I still think he was confused?  He always made me laugh especially when he'd tell his stories and jokes always kept me in stitches. I remember Jim showed me the picture of him as Elvis and even did a little routine for me, he had a gift, Jim was one of a kind. Jim was a very Caring and Thoughtful person, a good advisor but most of all a Devoted Father and a "Great Poppy". He will be sadly missed by all, and will always have a special place in my Heart. I would like to write something for the Family:

Jimmy -- Thank you for our beautiful daughter, Katherine, who is the light of my life.  Thank you and Amanda for contacting us so that Katherine had the opportunity to become part of your life in your final days.  I know she was a great comfort to you.  My deepest sympathy to your family and friends.  We will all hold tight to our memories of you.

Amanda, Scott and Rachel: I honestly can not imagine what the 3 of you are going through right now.  I hope you can take some comfort knowing that your dad is in a far better place, watching with pride over the amazing lives he created.  I hope you can soon replace the grief with happy memories of the full life he lived.  He was always the story teller.  And it was obvious from those stories how proud he was to be your dad.
Amanda, it has been heartbreaking to watch you go through this.  You are so unbelievably strong.  I think I would just crawl into a ball.  I know it's selfish to think about myself at this time, but I must admit, I take comfort in knowing that when this horrible time in my life comes, you will be there to help walk me through it.  I hope you know that you don't always have to be strong.  So many people love you and would do anything for you.  Please allow us to take care of you as you go through this.
I still can't believe this is real.  I always admired Mr. Jimmy.  Not just because I thought he was Elvis when I was little, but because even at a young age when i didn't really understand why, I knew he was something special to step up and raise you like he did.  And it was funny to see the tables turn as you grew up.  I feel like I remember you lecturing him, more than I remember him lecturing you!  He was as lucky to have you as you were to have him.
I can't believe tomorrow will be the final good-bye.  This world will truely not be the same without him and Heaven is lucky to have him.
Rest Peacefully, Mr. Jimmy.  And thank you for my friend.

   Jimmy,I remember as if it was yesterday,when we met.We hit it of right away. I was the new guy on the block.You introduced  me to all your
friends,who soon became mine.We were the young age of 13&14 respectfully.
  We stayed close for 3 to 4 years,then we took seperate paths, but our freindship remained.You joined the See Bees,I was drafted into the Army.
  Sorrow, when I heard of your passing,
but the memory of our friendship will remain with me the rest of my days.
 I pray that the loss by all your loved ones will be replaced by the fond memories of you and whould someday dry all thier tears.
   For you were the real deal.   
   A great father, a good son and brother and a great friend we all had.

A great man was lost last Wednesday.  I thank you Jimmy for giving me my extraordinary stepdaughter Amanda and Scott and Rachel, all of whom I love with my whole heart.  I know they will miss you so much but you taught them to be strong and they will get through this by remembering all the good times and lessons you taught them.  My condolences to Linda your wonderful caregiver.  Your devotion and care of Jimmy was and is appreciated by so many and I am sorry for your loss. Linda, I was so saddened to see Jimmy's obit in the paper yesterday.  I know he desperately wanted to get well so he could continue being with you. He fought hard and you were his wonderful caregiver. To Amanda, Scott, Rachel and the Savoy family,

     My family and I would like to take this time to express our deepest sympathy for the loss of Mr. Jimmy.  Yes, Mr. Jimmy was the coolest dad ever.  He always took very good care of his children.  I remember him always bringing the asthma machine to Chapelle, when Amanda was having an attack.       I also remember us trying to sneak out the house and go hang out with guys, and we got busted!  After he caught us, he lectured us for what seemed like hours.  A couple weeks before that, we snuck out and were successfull, but we had to tear the window screen to get back in the house!  Mr. Jimmy thought someone was trying to rob his house when he noticed the tear in the screen.  Of course, we knew nothing about this.  Needless to say, he figured out who it was when we were busted sneaking out the second time.  
     You know how when your parent lectures you and points their finger with you?  Well Mr Jimmy was lecturing us with a piece of toy train track, that was Scott's, instead of his finger.  It was hilarious!  He was also a very knowledgable person who knew so much about many things, I always liked to listen to what he said.  My heart has been with the Savoy family today, on this Father's Day.  I am glad he did not suffer for too long.  Rest in peace, Mr. Jimmy.  You were such a good role model for us. Mr. Jimmy- I will forever hold the fond memories of Amanda & I's high school days when you were the coolest dad anyone couldve ever asked for! You always listened to our "Drama" & gave the best advice! I'll never forget my favorite memory of you when you gave Amanda, Kristen & I $100.00 to go get croissants @ Burger King!!..then asked if that was enough!!!,...You will be missed but memories last 4 ever!
