Jimmy Mayfield passed away peacefully on March 22, 2020. He was 85. Jimmy was born in Sinton, Texas, on November 3, 1934 to Dennis Bruton Mayfield and Paralea Montgomery Mayfield. He received his degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas and was an avid Longhorn sports fan. After leaving college, he served his country in the United States Army. Jimmy lived most of his life in Metairie, Louisiana, where he served as Vice President and Principle Consultant at Lowell Johnston & Associates, Inc. for 25 years. In 2015, he received an American Society of Civil Engineers Offshore Technology Conference Hall of Fame Award for a paper he coauthored in 1987, Notes on Heavy Lifting, due to its lasting impact on the profession. He was an active member of Lake Villa Church of Christ in Metairie, Louisiana, until the loss of the building in Hurricane Katrina. He was then an active member of Southside Church of Christ in Gonzales, Louisiana. Jimmy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him. Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Lee Mayfield; his father, Dennis Mayfield; and his mother, Paralea Mayfield.

He was survived by his brother, Alec Mayfield; son, Dale Mayfield; his daughters, Leslie Mayfield Hall and Kristi Mayfield; his grandchildren, David Meynard, Devin McCarthy, Cody Hall, Monica Mayfield Williams and Brittany Mayfield Pierce; and his great-grandchildren, Rylee McCarthy, Avery McCarthy, Krista Pierce, and Christopher Pierce. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
