

John William Callahan, Jr., age 89, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021. He was a native of New Orleans, LA, a former resident of Terrytown, LA and a resident of Metairie, LA for over 30 years. Mr. Callahan was preceded in death by his father John William Callahan, Sr.; his mother, Phillipine Dick Callahan; his sister, Ethel Callahan Burns; his first wife, Theresa Harrison Callahan; his second wife, JoAnna Almerico Callahan and his granddaughter, Heidi Ann Castagnetta. He is survived by his son, John Robert Callahan, self-employed CPA with 40 plus years in business (spouse, Claudette Raymond Callahan); his daughter, Connie Callahan Monticeno (spouse, Richard Rodriguez), 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Mr. Callahan was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, was a member of American Legion Post 0401, the New Orleans Fraternal Order of Police and was a parishioner of St. Clement of Rome Church. He had been an employee of Western Electric, Jack’s Brewery, Sherwin Williams, was the owner of Pete’s Place Bar and Restaurant and he retired from the Jefferson Parish Sign Department. Mr. Callahan was a very proud Irishman who will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Clement of Rome Church, 3990 West Esplanade Avenue in Metairie, LA on Wednesday February 10, 2021 beginning at 11:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 12:30 PM.
