AVIS DE DÉCÈS

John Paul Courvoisier Jr.

13 juin 1936 – 29 février 2024
Avis de décès de John Paul Courvoisier Jr.
AUX SOINS DE

Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home

John Paul Courvoisier, Jr. age 87, transitioned into the winter of his journey following complications from a long illness of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) on Thursday, February 29, 2024. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

John was born in Detroit, Michigan to John and Marcella Courvoisier. As a child, he moved to Toledo, Ohio where he attended St. Catherine’s Elementary School and Central Catholic High School. Throughout his life, he never forgot his appreciation to Central Catholic for steering him in the right direction. His loyalty to this outstanding institution never wavered. Following graduation from high school, John joined the United States Air Force and began his lifelong love of finance and accounting. Following discharge from the Air Force John attended Bowling Green State University and graduated with a degree in Finance. During his tenure at BGSU he was a proud member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, excelled on the bowling team earning a “300 point” bowling shirt, and played on the basketball team which won the State Championship.

John began his career in finance at General Motors in Detroit, Michigan and Parsons College in Iowa. As a Hospital Administrator of Finance, Chief Finance Officer, and Vice President of Finance John began his love of hospital finance at Edgewater Hospital, Michael Reese Hospital, and University of Chicago Hospitals in Chicago, Illinois. In the late seventies, nine of his professional friends formed the Chicago Health Council. After leaving Chicago, John continued his career as Chief Financial Officer at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and University Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1984, John moved to Metairie to become Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance at East Jefferson General Hospital. John’s goal was to leave each hospital more viable in finance than the way he found it. He accomplished this goal at EJGH through investments.

In 1995, John incorporated Courvoisier & Associates, a Healthcare Management Consulting Service. He traveled throughout the United States and landed a long-term contract with Loudon Hospital, outside of Washington, D.C. He provided Chief Financial Officer services on a temporary basis while the hospital searched for a permanent CFO. In 2000, John retired to spend time with his family and pursued his hobbies as a University of Michigan fan, golf, boating and sports.

John is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Sandy, his son, Maxwell, and his dog, Rex. Together John and Sandy built and created a life of beautiful moments and memories.

At John’s request there will be no funeral or memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Central Catholic High School Scholarship Fund at www.centralcatholic.org/support
