John David Prince Sr. age 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 28, 2015. Beloved husband of Doris Prince for 66 years. Loving father of Peter B. Prince and the late John Prince Jr. Proud grandfather of Parker Prince, Madison Prince, John Prince III, Shanann Mitchel, Bree Prince and Josh Prince. Brother of Jim and Charles Prince.
John’s life started with a humble beginning in New Albany, MS. As a young man he volunteered his service to the United States Army during World War II. After being stationed in Saipan he returned home to work for a number of small businesses. Being the risk taker and salesman that he was, in 1966, he decided to chase his lifelong dream of building a wood and import business. He moved his family to New Orleans, LA where he started his own company, Plywood Panels Inc. With hard work and determination his business expanded rapidly having plants in Virginia and California. John never forgot where he came from and was a large donor to St. Jude Hospital, M.D. Anderson, and started a college scholarship program that educated many young men and women. He truly believed in giving back. When J.D. wasn’t working he could be found on the water in Cocodrie, LA, chasing speckled trout. He had a serious passion for fishing and entertaining all walks of life. The “Redman” as many people knew him by will be sadly missed by all. Relatives and friends of J.D. Prince and family are invited to attend a Personal Celebration of Life at 300 Lake Marina Towers on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 11:00 am till 3:00 pm. Condolences may be offered at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
