Joy Theresa Philibert

Joy Sehrt Philibert, born October 6, 1925, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 9:00 am at the age of 86. Beloved mother of Ray "Rocky" Philibert of Cummings, GA, R. Brian Philibert (wife Karen), of Slidell, LA, and Susan Philibert of New Bern, NC. Sister of Frank "Sonny" Sehrt, Jr. (wife Gloria). Grandmother of Darnea Philibert Olsen, Russell, Douglas, and Rebecca Philibert, Allison Gereighty Coles, Anthony IV and Vincent Musacchia. Great-grandmother of Zoe, Charis, Rayna and Tait Olsen, Ryan Philibert, Raquel Cook, Sophia Organo, Anthony,V. and Jaymi, Zachary, Emily and Nataly Musacchia, Ellie, Nathan, Jr., Gabriel and Claire Coles. Daughter of the late Frank J. Sehrt, Sr. and Edna Groh Sehrt. Divorced wife of the late Ray A. Philibert. Mother-in-law of the late Charlene Ledig Philibert and Denise Daigle Philibert. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, goddaughter, Lori Bordelon DeMonsabert, and her dedicated caregiver, Henrietta Augustine. Joy attended St. Dominic Grammar School, Sophie Wright High School, and a graduate of Soule Business College, she was an Instructor with Soule College, and was retired from March McLennan Insurance Company, 1985. A native of Lakeview, New Orleans, LA and a resident of Metairie, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Hwy. at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family would like to thank her caregivers and staff at Fidelis Residential Care and Heart of Hospice for giving her wonderful and compassion care and support to our family as well.
