Joycelyn Tobler Ferrara

Joycelyn Tobler Ferrara, 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Joycelyn was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 15, 1934. She was one of fourteen children born to Louise Clotilde (Moseby) Tobler and Frederick Louis Tobler. Joycelyn was preceded in death by her beloved son, Melchior Anthony Ferrara, Jr., and by her parents and siblings. Surviving family members include her daughter, Lynn (Kelly) Brien of Bakersfield, Vermont, her beloved grandchildren, Steven Brien, Donovan (Amy Lithimane) Brien, Dillon (Mackenzie) Ferrara, and Whitney (Caleb) Swank-Ferrara. Joycelyn is also survived by two adored great-grandsons, Luka Litihimane-Brien and Cash Ferrara.

Joycelyn was a long-time resident of Lacombe, Louisiana, having lived there over 40 years. In early adulthood she was a keypunch operator and later worked as a real estate broker. In Lacombe she was known by some as “Rosie” having owned and operated Rosie’s Deli for several years.

Joycelyn is probably best known in Lacombe and the surrounding areas as a Notary. She took great pleasure in serving her community through notarial work and made many, many cherished friends along the way. She was beloved for her positive outlook and her willingness to assist family, friends, and those who sought her services. Joycelyn continued working as a Notary until her death.

Joycelyn’s final resting place will be in Vermont. She requested that her ashes be scattered in the apple orchard near where her great-grandchildren play.
