Julian Mark Toups

Julian's soul passed from this life on Thursday, October 4th, after a long battle with ever more debilitating dementia at the age of 81. He was born in New Orleans on November 24, 1936, then relocated to Metairie in 1947.

He is the son of the late O'Neil J. Toups originally from Raceland, LA and Lucy Orillion Toups originally from Gray, LA.

Julian is the father of Julie Christine Fagot and Michael David Toups (Katje) by his first marriage to Barbara Montesano Toups. He is the Grandfather of Julie's three children, Christopher, Stephen and Katelyn. He is father-in-law to Daniel Fagot.

Julian's beloved wife of thirteen years by second marriage is Yvonne Russell Toups. He also shared a special relationship with Yvonne's children, Kevin (Tina), Keith and Kirk (Erin) Russell.

He is the brother of Leon, (Mary Frances "Tee") Toups and the uncle of Kenneth (Martha), Thomas (Paula), Sharon, Laure (Robert) and Andrea Toups.

His lifetime work was as a Social Worker and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 10th at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, located at 6425 W. Metairie Ave., Metairie, LA. Visitation from 9:30 AM until time of service.

Burial will be in the Toups family tomb located at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, 1027 Hwy. 308, Thibodaux, LA at a later date.

The family expresses their sincere thanks to those members of the staff of The Atrium Living Center and St. Anthony's Nursing Home who treated Julian with respect and compassion. Further, to the staff of Guardian Angel Hospice, each of whom showed utmost care and compassion to Julian as well as our family during his final days. Finally, to Jeff Drouin, who not only sat with Julian two days a week for the past ten months, but in the process became a true friend to Julian, as well as our family and during the time spent together taught us all a lot about life.
