

Julian Howard “Bud” Weekley, Jr. passed away peacefully Friday, February 24, 2012, at his home in Mandeville after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Born May 20th, 1935 in Upper Darby, PA, Bud graduated from Florida State University and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
Living in Jacksonville, FL, following college, he met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Lyle, in 1960. Bud has been reunited with Dorothy, who preceded him in 2004, and is survived by his son, Michael Lyle Weekley, daughter Kathryn Weekley Becnel, son-in-law Daniel E. “Becket” Becnel III ,and two beloved grandchildren, Jane Lyle Becnel and Christian DuBarry Becnel. He is also survived by countless, loving relatives and a host of cherished friends, with many of whom he shared his great passion for the game of golf. Bud long worked in the automobile industry in both Jacksonville and New Orleans, first as the general manager of Royal Oldsmobile then later as partner with Larry Oggs and Jerry Groetsch at Crown Buick/GMC.
Bud was the consummate gentleman and professional businessman, whose kindness, generosity, and loving nature will be dearly missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to a celebration of Bud’s life at a Memorial Service at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, (near Clearview Pkwy.), in Metairie, LA on Friday, March 2, 2012. The family will receive guests from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, after which a service will be held in the Chapel. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society in Mr. Weekley’s name.
