

Karen Ann Hernandez Frazer, a resident of Metairie Louisiana, died at home at 4:55 a.m. December 31, 2022, after a valiant fight with cancer surrounded by her loving family. She was 74. Karen was born in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, the youngest of four children and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was a graduate of St. Gerard Magella Elementary, Redemptorist High School and LSU in Baton Rouge.
Karen worked as a legal secretary, and then a free-lance court reporter for many years before working for the Jefferson Parish Court System from which she retired in 2019. She developed her love of travel with her beloved husband Tom Frazer. After his death, her love of travel evolved into Zydeco dancing events locally and nationally, and multi-day national and international cycling trips. Karen gained a wide circle of friends who shared her love of travel, dancing and cycling.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "Tom" Lide Frazer, her father Milton Hernandez, Sr. and her mother, Irene Landry Hernandez, her in-laws, Giles Thomas Frazer and his wife Martha Louise Lide Frazer.
She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Hernandez McMahan and her husband, Thomas (Tom) McMahan, their children, Michael McMahan and his wife Brenda Duff McMahan, Patrick McMahan and his wife Gaye Corley McMahan, Shannon McMahan and his wife Lynda Chestnut McMahan, Tracey McMahan, Sharon McMahan Hanry and her husband Robbie Hanry; her brother, Milton "Sugarboy" Hernandez, Jr. and his late wife Susie Surcouf Hernandez, their children, Milton Hernandez III and his wife Anne Ray Hernandez, Nancy Hernandez May Walker and her husband Richard Walker along with her brother, Lloyd Hernandez and his wife Margaret (Maggie) Landry Hernandez, their children, David Hernandez and his wife Monica Meza Hernandez, Greg Hernandez and his wife Andrea DuPont Hernandez, Mary Katherine Hernandez Judice and her husband David Judice. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, John Frazer and his wife Anne Cornish Frazer, and their son, Thomas Harland Frazer, a host of great nieces and nephews, as well as great-great nieces and nephews, numerous loving cousins and very dear friends.
Karen wanted to be remembered as a good daughter, a good sister, a good friend, and an awesome Zydeco dancer.
The family would like to thank Dr. Zoe Larned and the Ochsner Oncology Staff, as well as Andria Schiro, Carly Bubacz and the Compassus Hospice staff.
A celebration of life will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie, Louisiana on Sunday, January 15, 2023, from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Karen will be laid to rest in St. Jules Church Cemetery, Belle Rose, Louisiana at a later date.
