

Karen Elizabeth Laster Herndon passed away peacefully on March 26, 2023, at the age of 64. She was born November 28, 1958 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Margaret Dempsey and Ervin Frost Laster. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Susan Maria, and her beloved husband Michael Wayne Le Blanc.
She is survived by her sister Patricia Laster Facquet (Emmett, Sr), brother Paul Ervin Laster (Melanie, deceased), and her nieces and nephews: Victoria Facquet Johnson (Raymond Jr, deceased), Raymond Johnson III, Emmett Facquet II (Melanie), Dominik Facquet, Kathryn Facquet, Emmett Facquet III, Adrienne Laster Horton (Tony), and Kelsey Laster Stanke (Bryan).
Karen received her Bachelor of Science and Masters in Education from University of New Orleans. She began her 39-year career with the Jefferson Parish Public School System in 1980. Karen was an elementary school teacher before she held various administrative positions, culminating as Executive Director of Instructional Data and Accountability. She loved celebrating her family and friend’s accomplishments, Drew Brees, the New Orleans Saints, and will be remembered for her loving friendship and the ability to advise and mentor so many to achieve their greatest potential.
Visitation will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006 on Monday April 24, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Tuesday April 25, 2023 beginning at 9:00 AM with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 AM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel. Interment will be at Hope Mausoleum.
