Lance John Gremillion Sr.

Lance John Gremillion Sr., died Monday, Sept 16 at the age of 99. Retired owner of Gremillion Uptown Grocery and L&A Ice Cream Parlor, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Anna Baker Gremillion, son Lance John Gremillion Jr., daughters-in-law, Gail Hooley Gremillion and Gail Cassaly Gremillion, his parents Robert and Agalie St. Romain Gremillion and his 12 siblings. He is survived by his son, Richard J. Gremillion of Covington and daughter, Sharon Gremillion Long of Kenner. Grandfather of Lance J. Gremillion III of Birmingham, Al, Nancy Back of Lexington, KY, Hally Lockhart of Brentwood, TN, Tom Gremillion of Franklin, TN, Leslie Keagy of Raleigh, NC, Kathy Coco of Mandeville, LA, Rick Gremillion of Mandeville, LA, Robert Long of Metairie, LA and Jeffrey Long of Metairie, LA. He had the joy of knowing his 23 great- grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Divine Providence Catholic Church. An avid gardener and fisherman, he was a member of the 7th Ward Pink House, worked with Meals on Wheels for 25 years and was a past King of the Jefferson Golden Age Club. A native of Plaucheville, LA and a resident of Metairie, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
