

Linda Margaret Breecher-O’Malley entered into eternal rest on February 1st, 2024 at the age of 82. She was born in New Orleans, LA on May 10th, 1941 to Louis Anthony Breecher and Leonora Josephine Goodyear Breecher. She was preceded in death by her loving parents and her sister, Jean Ann Breecher.
Linda leaves many loved ones behind who will cherish her memory: her loving husband of 32 years, Charles R. O'Malley Jr., Her brothers, Louis A. Breecher Jr., Michael L. Breecher Sr. (Alberta), and Darren Breecher Sr.(Gina). Her precious children; Karl Volk (Julie), Karen Oberkirch (Larry), Christopher Volk (Kim); her children by marriage, Colleen Flynn (Ken), and Sean O'Malley (Jeannine).
She was a devoted grandmother to Rachael Ulmer (Brandon), Ryan Volk (Natalie), Lauren Volk, Kellie Johnson (William), Joanna McGrew (Heath), Vincent Oberkirch (Lauren), Neil Oberkirch (Natalie), Sadie Oberkirch, Jessica Pohl (Rob), Aaron Volk (Emily), Donald Flynn, Skyler Flynn, Robert Flynn, Charlie O'Malley, Elizabeth O'Malley, and Maggie Bacon.
Linda also adored her 18 great-grandchildren; Rosalyn Ulmer, Grace Ulmer, Margaret Ulmer, Levi Volk, Jane Volk, Liam Johnson, Larsyn Johnson, Mae James Johnson, Annie McGrew, Heath McGrew, Rhett McGrew, James Oberkirch, Lena Pohl, Lane Pohl, Ella Pohl, Allie Volk, Harper Volk, and Jackson Volk.
She was a doting Aunt and Great Aunt to many nieces, nephews and their children.
Linda was a proud native of New Orleans. She also resided in Mobile, AL. and lastly in Metairie, LA. She loved the culture of New Orleans and found her way home in her later years. She thrived in the city and was involved in many activities and clubs including The Deutsche Gesellchaft Haus, where she was an active member. She was also a member of the Audubon Zoo, BMW Club, St. Matthews Church, the Jefferson Parish Children's Theater, EJ Wellness Center, Art Groups, a Council of Aging Volunteer, the German Club, the Garden Club, and a local Genealogy Group. She spent countless hours researching her ancestry, recounting family history, and reconnecting with rediscovered members in her family line; something she was very passionate about.
She was a woman of great intelligence, graduating high school from St. Stephens and continued her education at the University of South Alabama and the University of New Orleans. She thoroughly enjoyed utilizing her education as a Medical Technician in the neurology department of USA Medical in Mobile, AL.
Linda was an avid traveler, gardener, and explorer. She enjoyed her trips with the Rhodes Scholar organization. She was committed to attending as many family functions as possible. She looked forward to her weekly dinners with her husband and brothers and always looked forward to holiday gatherings with family.
She had numerous friendships including a long standing one with her hairdresser, Ann. She also loved her cats, Sheba and Tux.
Linda enjoyed her visits to Mobile to see her children and grandchildren. She had a special place in her heart for the Gulf Waters and Mobile Bay. She would often say the most important thing to her was her family.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the the Deutsche Gesellchaft Haus,the Audubon zoo or a charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held on March 9th, 2024 at Leitz-Egan Funeral home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m.
