Linda H Briggs

Linda was educated in the Orleans Parish School System where she attended Medard H Nelson Elementary, Andrew J. Bell Jr.High, and George Washington Carver High School. Linda received her nursing degree from Charity School of Nursing. In 2010, she retired with over 35 years from Charity Hospital New Orleans.

Linda accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at The Asia Baptist Church in New Orleans by Rev. Zebadee Bridges Sr. In her early years she served as the church secretary. She also served as President of the Beautifying Ministry; a member of the Hospitality Ministry; and a proud member of Sunday School class #1 under the leadership of her two older siblings.

During her years of retirement she enjoyed shopping, gardening, family gatherings (life of the party) and caring for her sisters.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband David L. Briggs Sr., Parents: Leon and Nora Horton Sr., Son: David L. Briggs Jr., Grandparents: Viola Himes (Willie) & Stewart Dean (Etna), Brothers: Leroy Horton (Martha), Leon Horton, Stewart Horton, Sister: Gloria Lee Horton Jackson (George Jr.) Mother-N-Law: Elva Mae Briggs, Her Favorite &Only Godchild Carl E. Jackson; and significant other for over 30 years, Mr. Joel Sylvain.

She leaves to cherish her memories, Her Daughter Juvonda Andra Briggs; Grandchildren: Ashley and Brandon Briggs; Siblings Louis Horton, Ronald Horton (June), Randolph Horton (Victoria) Raymond Horton, Nora H. Green, Pamela R. Horton Viola H. Jackson ; Brother-in law Thomas Williams and Sister-in-law Flora Green and a host of relatives and friends.

A visitation for Linda will be held Friday, August 16, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at The Asia Baptist Church, 1400 Sere St, New Orleans, LA 70122, followed by a funeral services starting 10:00 AM. Interment will follow church services in Mount Olivet Cemetery, New Orleans, LA.
