Lyn was born on May 5, 1951 to Mary Martin Black and Wilbert Black III in New Orleans. After Lyn graduated from Riverdale High School in 1969, she went on to study Elementary Education/Special Education at LSU New Orleans.
In 1966, Lyn met Ron Foster on a blind date. After dating on and off until each graduated from college, in 1972 they were married at Munholland Methodist Church in Metairie. After a Disney World honeymoon, they immediately moved from New Orleans to Dayton, Ohio where Ron entered the Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Lyn returned to college at Wright State University to get teaching qualifications in Ohio, then taught learning disabled children in Fairborn, Ohio for three years. In 1976, Lyn and Ron returned to New Orleans where she continued teaching learning disabled children at Gables Academy. In 1980 Lyn left teaching and became a secretary and then a real estate agent at Wagner & Truax in Metairie. In 1983 she joined her husband at his business, Masonry Products Sales and Foster-Taylor Fireplaces. She worked there until her retirement in 2016.
Lyn and Ron did not have children but always had pets which resulted in Lyn's passion for dog sports. Her breed of choice was Miniature Schnauzers, which she enjoyed training and competing in a variety of dog sports including agility, obedience, barn hunt, and fast cat. She loved her local club, Swamp Dog, and made many friends there.
Lyn is survived by her parents, Mary and Wilbert Black; two brothers Gary and Keith; and loving husband Ron.
Lyn will be cremated with her service on December 3, 2022, at Munholland Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations gladly accepted at Munholland Church, 1201 Metairie Rd. Metairie, LA 70005 or at Lyn's Swamp Dog Club at 8717 Hermitage Pl. River Ridge, LA 70123
