Lois Stern de Gruy, 90 years old, of Metairie, Louisiana, on May 7, 2018, entered into eternal life surrounded by her family. Lois was a distinguished member of several ministries at Our Lady of Divine Providence Catholic Church, including 46 years as a teacher of religious education and many years supporting Boy Scouts. She was an active member of Silver Wings Senior Club. Lois was a teachers' assistant at East Jefferson High School for 31 years, working primarily with special education children. She loved cooking, especially baking, and gathering together for family dinners. She was happiest when her grand-children were close to her. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 27 years, R.V. de Gruy Ill, parents; Jerome Stern and Stella Marie Coroy Stern, and her sister Esther Stern Blount Metz. She is survived by her sister; Geraldine Stern McGovern, her loving children; Celine (Neil) Johnson, Raoul (DeAnne) de Gruy, Denise de Gruy, Edwin (Julie) de Gruy, Andre (Beth) de Gruy and Phillip (Christina) de Gruy, 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Our Lady of Divine Providence Catholic Church, 8617 W. Metairie Ave, Metairie, Louisiana 70003. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm followed by interment at St. Louis Cemetery #1, 452 Basin Street, New Orleans, Louisiana.
