It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Rohr Mollere, age 70, who peacefully passed away on July 9, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was fondly known to many as “Momma Mary or M&M”—a name that reflected her nurturing spirit, wisdom, and the deep affection so many held for her.
Mary was born on February 16, 1955, in New Orleans, Louisiana, at Touro Hospital. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph A. Rohr Sr. and Cyrene H. Rohr.
She is survived by her children: Katje Toups (Mike), Gretchen Mollere (Josh), and Amanda Parnell (Jason); and her cherished grandchildren: Elissa, Gabe, Sam, and Elijah. She is also survived by her loving siblings: Cyrene Rohr Lamkin, Charles E. Rohr (Diane), and John R. Rohr (Duyen), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
Mary was preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph A. Rohr Jr. and Cathy Ann Rohr Pavone.
Among her many beloved family members, Mary shared a special and cherished bond with her granddaughter, Elissa. One of her greatest joys in life was spending quality time with Elissa—moments full of silliness, laughter, stories, and unconditional love that both treasured deeply.
In the early 1980s, Mary played an essential role in helping open her family’s locally owned restaurant, R&O’s, working alongside her then-husband, Roland Mollere, and his family. Ever the picture of strength and dedication, she was known to have her oldest daughter on her hip while pregnant with her second, helping to bring the family's dream to life.
Mary had a true gift and deep love for cooking and baking, a talent that brought people together and made every gathering feel like home. Whether she was preparing a holiday feast or a simple dinner, her meals and desserts were filled with love—and often became lifelong memories for those lucky enough to sit at her table. She loved eating out and experiencing different foods and never turned down a good meal unless it involved something green(then it was a definite no-go).
She also had a vibrant sense of adventure and a thrill-seeking spirit. From the tallest roller coasters to the fastest rides, Mary never shyed away from excitement, approaching theme parks the same way she approached life: with fearless joy and a wide-open heart. Some of her greatest thrills came from being at the beach, lounging by the pool, or vacationing with her family and friends, where she created countless memories of fun, laughter, and togetherness.
If Momma Mary was in the room, it was never without a laugh. Her goofy smile, contagious laughter, and deep love for each and every one of us will never be forgotten. She will be greatly missed by all and gone way to soon.
Visitation will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006 on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 beginning at 10:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home's chapel.
