Merlin (Butch) Carl Rodriguez, born in NOLA May 12, 1923 and passed away on December 8, 2013. Son of the late Charles & Alice Rodriguez. Army WWII & Korean War Veteran, fought in the Pacific under General Douglas MacArthur. Earned the United Nations Service Medal, the combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Medal, One Overseas Bar, Retired from Borden Milk Co. Married the love of his life the late Marion Johnson Rodriguez. Father of Patricia Schwarz Core, (the late) Carol Holloway, & Merlene Rodriguez Jones, Father-in-law to Edlow Jones, Grandfather of Sheryl Zylicz Logue, Erika Schwarz Wright, Christopher Holloway, David Holloway. Great Grand Father of Lauren LeCompte, Mason Logue, Johnny & Gabriel Wright, Travis & Elijah Holloway. Brother of Donald & Ronald Rodriguez, the late Charles, Edmond, Emmanuel, Andrew, & Beverly. Devoted & Loving Care Giver Cindy Hymel. Host of Nieces & Nephews. The family would like to thank Serenity Hospice & Southeast La War Veterans Home for their exceptional care & support over the past 5 years. The relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 1:00 pm. Visitation from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Interment in Jefferson Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association. & Wounded Warrior Foundation
