Michael John Laguaite

Michael John Laguaite (Mike), aged 69, life-long resident of New Orleans, LA., passed away at East Jefferson Hospital at 12:30 am on January 22, 2016 with his devoted wife, Brenda Laguaite, at his side, after a long battle with numerous health issues. Michael was born on January 9, 1947, the second of six siblings and the eldest son of Claude Laguaite and Lorraine Laguaite.

Visitation will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie, LA on January 29, 2016, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Mass.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of thirty-one years, Brenda Laguaite, sons Brad Laguaite and his wife Alison and Ron Zoller and his wife Lisa, daughter, Wendy Zoller, grandchildren, Alexander Laguaite, Eric Laguaite, Jonathan Laguaite, Baylee Wilson, and Zackery Wilson. Michael is also survived by his mother, Lorraine Laguaite, his siblings, Claudette Civello, Audrey Bunch and her husband George, Allen Laguaite and his wife Laurie, Doris Laguaite, and David Laguaite and his wife Liz, and by his brother-in-law, Vincent Sauro. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Claude Laguaite.

Michael retired after 30 years working in the petroleum and chemical industry as a control room operator.

Michael enjoyed gardening, tinkering on his workbench in his garage, being with everyone in his extended family, and simply enjoying down time with Brenda in their home that he loved so much.

Although a man of few words, Mike was devoted to his family and demonstrated his love in his actions. Mike, Dad, or Pops will always be held in our hearts and thoughts.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and staff of East Jefferson Hospital who took such excellent care of him during his last days on earth.
