Michael Joseph Thompson

Michael J. Thompson, age 47, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2012. Beloved son of Joseph B. and Julie D. Thompson. Brother of Timothy Thompson (Cheri Ben-Iesau), David Thompson (Tamy) and Karen Castro-Jones (Dick). Also survived by his devoted nieces and nephews, Haley and Carter Thompson, Antonio and Andre Castro, Claire and Elizabeth Jones, Kaitlyn Puhlman and Dylan Thompson.

Michael was a graduate of the University of New Orleans with a B.A. degree in Fine Arts and Geography. He received the Chancellor’s Award for highest grade point average in his class and later earned a graduate degree in Germany. He was widely traveled and made friends all over the world. He was a member of the Louisiana Symphony Chorus and the Louisiana Vocal Arts Chorale. He worked with international students at U.N.O. and taught at Delgado Community College.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service from the Metairie home of THARP-SONTHEIEMR-THARP, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. at 43rd St. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 11:30 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the P-FLAG Scholarship Fund, P.O.
