Morriss Joseph Simon Sr.

Morriss Joseph Simon, Sr., born March 3, 1929, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at the age of 87 years old. Beloved husband of the late Anna Mae Rogers Simon for over 65 years. Loving father of Ronald John Simon (Fay), Morriss Joseph Simon, Jr. (Sheila), Lynn Ann Simon, and Tina Marie Simon. He had the joy and love of 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was the son of Ozick and Emedia, brother of 10 brothers and sisters, and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He was a native of Abbeville, Louisiana and resided in the New Orleans area for over 73 years, but never forgot his Cajun roots. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 11 for over 20 years and an all-around fix-it guy his entire life. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Canon Hospice and Ormond Care Center for the excellent care given to their Dad. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend his memorial service and celebration of life at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 4:30 pm. Visitation will be from 1:30 – 4:30 pm. A private family inurnment will take place at another time when he will be rejoined with his loving wife.
